The plug portion (E) of the connector (4) has a number of electrical contacts (8) arranged outside the cross-section of the hose termination (5) with slots or holes (24) positioned so as to accept the pins of the mating connector on the foot of the appliance. The contacts are offset axially from the mouthpiece (25) surrounding the air duct (9). The outside wall (26) has a shoulder (28) co-operating with a counterpart on the foot.
