PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gear transmission mechanism capable of restricting a friction between a transmission member installed among a plurality of gears and a transmission shaft for integrally rotating them and a gear transmission mechanism, and a shaft for use in operating the transmission member, assuring a sufficient amount of engagement of the transmission member with an engaging notch through operation of the shift shaft and performing a positive transmission operation for a long period of time. SOLUTION: One gear 83 in a pair of gears always kept in their engaged state is installed at a first transmission shaft 44. The other gear 84 is rotatably installed at a second transmission shaft 69. A transmission member 70 which can be engaged with an engaging notch 91 formed at the other gear 84 is fitted into an opened hole 92 formed at a second transmission shaft 69 in the state of being integral rotated with the second transmission shaft 69. The transmission member 70 is selectively engaged with the engaging notch 91 and a shift shaft cooperatively connecting one of the other gear 84 with the second transmission shaft 69 is rotatably provided.
