PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric power steering device of an automobile having a steering force characteristic in which a driver always feels substantially constant feeling even when vehicle behavior changes. SOLUTION: This electric power steering device of the automobile assists the steering of a steering wheel with an electric motor. The steering device comprises a torque sensor 24 for detecting a steering torque, a first control part 18 for setting a control amount of the electric motor 14 so as to decrease a value of the torque sensor, a second control part 20 for setting a control amount of the electric motor so that a steering force felt by the driver and a vehicle behavior (lateral acceleration or yaw rate) felt by the driver have a preset relation, and an electric motor control part 22 for controlling the electric motor based on a control amount obtained by adding respective control amounts by the first and second control parts.
