PURPOSE: To increase charging/discharging cycles after overdischarging by heating nickel hydroxide particles covered with particles containing cobalt under the existence of alkaline aqueous solution. CONSTITUTION: Particles whose main component is nickel hydroxide and particles containing cobalt and if necessary at least one metal selected from cadmium, zinc, and nickel are mechanically blended in a dry process, and part or the whole of the surface of the particle whose main component is nickel hydroxide is physically covered with the particle containing cobalt by mechanochemical reaction. The covered particles are impregnated with alkaline aqueous solution having a concentration of 15-40wt.% and the impregnated particles are heated at 40-150 deg.C, washed with water, then dried. |
