METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR PATTERN RECOGNITION AND VALIDITY CHECK

PURPOSE: To execute the pattern recognition and the validity check for a hand- written signature or the like in a short time with high accuracy. CONSTITUTION: An image such as a hand-written signature is read by an image scanner 31 and fed to pattern detectors 33-35, in which various important basic structures of the image are detected. Important information relating basic images is stored in advance in a file 39, the information and the information of the important basic structures from an identification device are compared by pattern comparators 36-38 and validity checks are conducted and the above operations are repeated to enhance the accuracy. Data from the pattern comparators are weighted in a weighting circuit 301 and results representing dissidence or confirmation (coincidence) to some degree are outputted from the weighting circuit. Since the method that the processing from dominant information till information of low degree content is progressed stepwise is adopted, the method is executed in a short time with high accuracy.
