PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bill processing machine that can be miniaturized and carry out cost reduction. SOLUTION: A receipt hole 12 for receiving bills from outside the machine and a payment hole 11 for paying bills to be taken out of the machine are provided separately. The receipt hole 12 is equipped with a take-in mechanism for taking received bills into the machine and a bill press 27 driven electrically for pressing the received bills to the take-in mechanism. The payment hole 11 is equipped with a payment hole shutter 59 driven electrically for opening/ closing the payment hole 11. The bill press 27 and the payment hole shutter 59 share a drive source 65.
