PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve efficiency of business processing and to improve service to a customer.

SOLUTION: In a document management system, documents are managed using a terminal 1 and a server 3 connected to each other by a network 12. The terminal 1 includes a bar code reader 12 for reading a bar code attached to a document, a transmission means 18 for transmitting bar code data read by the bar code reader 12 to the server 3, and a display 16 for displaying the document management data transmitted from the server 3. The server 3 includes a document registration data storage means 36 for receiving the bar code data from the terminal 1, and storing the bar code data in relation to the document management data for managing the document, and an input business processing support means 31 for extracting the document management data related to the received bar code data from the storage means 36, and transmitting the same to a terminal system.
