PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spark plug of a long life provided with a filled part maintaining excellent sealability and insulator retaining strength for a long period of time. SOLUTION: The spark plug has an insulator 4 provided with a center electrode 2; a cylindrical housing 5; an annular part 6; a filling powder material 80 for forming the filled part 8 for enhancing a sealability therebetween. The spark plug further has a polygonal plug mounting part 51 on an outer periphery of the annular part 6 and a sleeve 52 for calking. In the filling powder material 80, particles of which a particle diameter before filling is 100-1,000μm occupy 80 wt.% or more of a whole weight. An auxiliary filling material is added to the filling powder material 80. The content of an organic component of the filling powder material 80 is less than 0.2 wt.%. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
