PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus control system as a more sophisticated system wherein an apparatus to be controlled can infer that a user possessing a control apparatus is absent. SOLUTION: The apparatus control system is configured with an apparatus to be controlled such as an air-conditioner installed in a house and a key device wirelessly connectable to the apparatus to be controlled. The key device is configured as e.g. a mobile phone. The apparatus control system is configured such that the apparatus to be controlled is set to an ordinary mode when the key device exists around itself and shifted to an inoperative mode when the key device moves to a communication disabled range. Further, the apparatus to be controlled is configured to be connected to a WAN and even when a possessor goes out while leaving the key device behind, power of the apparatus to be controlled is turned off externally via the WAN.
