PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that compatibility cannot be established between reduction of a color breakup and reduction of power consumption, in a display device of a color sequential display method. SOLUTION: A parallelepiped is derived, which contains plotted points in a prescribed proportion among a set of points obtained by plotting color information of video signals of a single screen in a three-dimensional color stimulus space and has an origin as one apex in the three-dimensional stimulus space. Three-color videos equivalent to three sides extending from the origin of this parallelepiped are displayed on 3 sub-fields of the color sequential display method respectively. Since this display method enables the sub-fields to display no primary colors, a high color breakup prevention effect can be obtained. A color video can be displayed with a requisite minimum of 3 sub-fields, so that power consumption can be reduced. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
