PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent an image display unit from being stained by a contact of a caller's skin and to improve a sensitivity of an antenna in a folding type portable telephone. SOLUTION: The portable telephone comprises a first cabinet 1 having an operating unit 9 and a transceiver circuit 5, a second cabinet 2 having the image display unit 4, foldably pivotally coupled to the cabinet 1, the antenna 5 and a talking speaker 7 provided at pivotally free end of the first cabinet 1, and a speaking microphone 8 provided at the pivotally free end of the second cabinet 2. In speaking, the speaker 7 is disposed at a ear, the microphone 8 is disposed at a mouth, and held. The antenna 6 is located at an upper position to be good condition to transmit and receive. The display unit 4 disposed at the microphone 8 side is not brought into contact with a caller's face, and not contaminated by a skin's foundation or oil content. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
