PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a glossiness reproducing method independent from characteristics of display device enabling the precise reproduction of the glossiness of a commodity. SOLUTION: This glossiness reproducing method independent from characteristic of display device comprises measuring a person's tendency to sense glossiness by subjective evaluation experiment, relating the perceptive characteristic to this tendency to physical characteristics, thereby performing a quantitative determination to obtain an equi-grossiness curve based on a glossiness model, and changing a surface reflecting component according to the luminance of a device on the basis of the equi-grossiness curve.
