<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a data transfer controller, electronic equipment and a data transfer control means capable of realizing fast data transfer while maintaining data confidentiality. <P>SOLUTION: Data transferred from a BUS 1 (IEEE1394, USB) is encrypted with second encryption processing (DES), and the encrypted data is written in an external SDRAM 50 through an external terminal of the data transfer controller 30. The encrypted data written in the SDRAM 50 is read through the external terminal, and the read encrypted data is transferred to a BUS2 to which an HDD is connected. The encrypted data transferred from the BUS1 is decrypted with first decryption processing (DTCP) and written to an SDRAM 40 with small capacity inside the data transfer controller 30. The written decrypted data is read from the SRAM 40 and encrypted with the second encryption process.
