<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve accuracy of determining bill authenticity without extremely damaging the convenience of a bill handling device. <P>SOLUTION: The bill handling device carries out authenticity determination of bills entered from a receipt/payment hole while delivering the bills. The inspected bills are temporarily stored in a depository until the user gives instruction to enter the bills. The device changes conditions of authenticity determination and carries out the inspection again without returning the bills to the user when the predetermined conditions for reinspection are satisfied, for example, when the ratio of rejected bills among the entered bills is high, or when the account, which is the object of transaction, corresponds to a predetermined suspicious account. Carrying out reinspection under certain conditions without bothering the user makes it possible to improve accuracy of authenticity determination without damaging convenience. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
