PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the quality of a reprint from digital image data obtained by scanning a negative film so as to enhance a print generating efficiency. SOLUTION: The image input apparatus for scanning dye image information recorded on a film by an image input medium, reading the information and converting the information into an electric signal, and generating digital image data by applying prescribed image processing to the converted information, is provided with a means for attaching: information indicative of it that the digital image data are generated by scanning the film; information with respect to the film; and information or the like used for discrimination to generate the digital image data.
