PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vending machine excellent in countermeasure to illicit use. SOLUTION: This vending machine comprises accepting means 101 and 104 for accepting cash and a purchase instruction; discriminating means 103 and 106 for discriminating the cash accepted by the accepting means; vending processing means 101, 104, and 109 for receiving the price of a commodity corresponding to the purchase instruction from the cash accepted by the accepting means, vending the commodity corresponding to the purchase instruction and, as occasion demands, returning change; a collation means 111 for collating a purchase pattern accepted by the accepting means with a suspicious purchase pattern registered in advance; a reporting means 112 for reporting the collation result by the collation means; and a vending operation control means 100 for controlling the vending operation by a vending means according to the collation result by the collation means.
