PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To discriminate quick brake sounds from siren sounds, which have been hitherto impossible, and to efficiently detect only accident sounds to improve the ability of detecting such accident sounds. SOLUTION: The accident sound detecting device for detecting accident sounds using an sound signal from the external comprises an accident sound acquiring means 20 acquiring an accident sound, a pitch variation determining/ computing means 30 determining the magnitude of the pitch variation of the accident sound from an output signal from this accident sound acquiring means 20, and a pitch variation sound removing means 40 removing a pitch variation sound having a large pitch variation from the accident sound in the case where the pitch variation determined by the pitch variation determining/computing means 30 is larger than a predetermined value.
