PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a video photographing/observing apparatus that has excellent operability, adopts a simplified system, is downsized and provides power- saving. SOLUTION: The video photographing/observing apparatus includes: a camera unit 30 provided with an imaging means and an external illumination means; and a controller unit 33 connected to the camera unit 30 by a camera cable 31. The controller unit 33 includes: a transmission section 333T capable of wirelessly transmitting a video signal photographed by the camera unit 30; a reception section 333R for wirelessly receiving the video signal; a video switching means 336 for selecting the video signal from the camera unit 30 or the video signal received by the reception section 333R; an operation switch 331 which a viewer can operate; a liquid crystal monitor 330 for displaying the video signal from the video switching means 336; and a power supply means including a battery 343 for supplying power to the camera unit 30 and the controller unit 33.
