PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a spot killer control method by which a random lighting state light is prevented from being generated by each electric charge stored in a capacitor, which is formed on the inner and outer conductive films of a cathode-ray tube by a high voltage circuit when a power source is turned off in a TV receiver. SOLUTION: When the power source is turned off, the presence of a V-pulse signal is detected. When the V-pulse signal is inputted, a scanning signal is synchronized with it, and, then, a timing is provided to position the scanning signal at the end of the screen. Then an RGB original color signal and a luminance signal are controlled in the neighborhood of the end of the screen, a high voltage is discharged, and the power source is turned off, so that the screen vanishes by a fixed timing.
