PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image communication apparatus for informing a serviceman about the occurrence of a fault even on the occurrence of the fault wherein a communication system ordinarily in use cannot be available, so as to request the serviceman to make a visit. SOLUTION: A circuit comprising a SUB MPU 13, an FSK MODEM 14, and a SUB NCU 15 is provided as other communication system, and on the occurrence of a fault in an apparatus section, a serviceman call key 8a is depressed and an error code is transmitted to the SUB MPU 13 under the control of an MPU 1. The SUB MPU 13 stores in advance a telephone number of a service center and a telephone number of its own apparatus, when receiving the error code, the telephone number of the service center is dialed, the telephone number of its own apparatus, a signal denoting a serviceman call and the error code are attached to a signal, the FSK MODEM 14 modulates the signal, and the SUB NCU 15 transmits the resulting signal to the service center via an analog telephone line 20.
