PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a communication apparatus wherein return to an initial state is shortened when carrier sense is erroneously detected, possibility of radio interference generation is reduced, and a decrease in throughput is prevented. SOLUTION: This communication MODEM monitors signal collision on a transmission line, and starts transmission when collision is not present. The MODEM is provided with a reception control circuit 208 which outputs a reset signal for returning to a phase which monitors the initial signal collision immediately, when a field code is detected 209 in a receiving signal during monitoring and the following signal level becomes 205 lower than or equal to a specified value.
