PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a superconducting element which an flatly epitaxially grow an oxide superconducting layer having a thickness of about 300 nm or more and which has an insulating layer havingε<SB>r</SB>of 40 or less at an operating temperature of about 40 K or lower and which shows good characteristics. SOLUTION: The superconducting element comprises a board, first and second oxide superconducting layers formed on the board and to form a Josephson junction, and the insulating layer formed between the wiring parts of the first and second superconducting layers and represented by (L1<SB>1-x</SB>L2<SB>x</SB>)O<SB>y</SB>(wherein L1 is at least one type of element selected group the group consisting of Y, Ce, Pr and Gd, L2 is at least one type of element different from the L1 selected from the group consisting of La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Sm, Eu, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm and Yb, 0<x<1, 1.4≤y≤2.1).
