A car data system (20) receives messages from a control center (10) uses pre messages evaluated by a pager (25) in the car to determine if the mobile phone (27) should be activated to receive and store (23) the publicity, traffic or GPS (Global Positioning System) unit update data from the post message. An Independent claim is included for use of the presence of a GPS (Global Positioning System) unit as criterion for determining whether to accept the post message.
