<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide highly orientational polycrystal ceramics which are made of a cobalt layer-like oxide indicating excellent thermoelectric characteristics and which shows a high figure of merit and to provide a method for manufacturing the same and a thermoelectric conversion element using such a highly orientational polycrystal ceramics. <P>SOLUTION: The highly orientational polycrystal ceramics contains the polycrystal material of the cobalt layer-like oxide. A rocking curve half width of the cobalt layer-like oxide in plane ä001} is 15 degrees or less. The method for manufacturing the ceramics comprises the steps of: preparing a raw material containing a first powder having a crystal surface A having lattice matching properties with CoO<SB>2</SB>layer of the oxide, molding the material so that an orientation degree according to a Lotgerig method of the surface A is 55% or more, and heating the obtained molding to a predetermined temperature. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
