PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a monitoring camera system which can acquire an image which can easily recognize contents of a fault in a plurality of monitoring cameras. SOLUTION: Two monitoring cameras 2A, 2B for imaging a monitoring region RM record images when an intruder MN is detected. If the direction DF of the face of the intruder MN is directed toward the camera, an operation for detecting the face region is conducted. The monitoring camera which detects the face of the intruder MN is selected for enlarging, the camera is zoomed in toward the face, and a static image of enlarged face is recorded. Meanwhile, another monitoring camera is selected for a wide region, and the overall region RM is imaged. Thus, the image which can easily recognize the contents of the fault such as identification of the intruder and its behavior can be acquired. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
