PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To automatically turn ON/OFF an ND in accordance with brightness of a subject without requiring user's manipulation, to make the brightness of an output image unchanged at that time, and to suppress a sense of discomfort for the image due to a depth of field and a shutter. SOLUTION: This imaging device has a imaging lens and a stop mechanism, an ND-filter insert/retract mechanism, a CCD for photoelectric conversion, an electronic shutter for controlling a storage time, a process circuit for conversion into an image signal, and a microcomputer for controlling an image signal level. The stop mechanism and the electronic shutter are controlled when the ND-filter is inserted into/retracted from an optical path in accordance with the insertion state of the ND-filter. Further, the control of the stop mechanism and the control of the electronic shutter are at a fixed ratio. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
