<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a color feature quantity computing apparatus capable of reducing an arithmetic quantity in applying an computing to a color descriptor and miniaturizing an image memory of decoded data as much as possible to miniaturize the apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: Only the data of DC components among decoded data are outputted from a VLD (variable length decoding) unit 12, and are inversely quantized in an IQ (inverse quantization) unit 14. For an intra-frame image, the output of the unit 14 is stored in an image memory 16 as it is, and for an inter-frame image, data which are motion-compensated by an MC (motion compensation) unit 18 and an adding unit 20 are stored. A frame splitting unit 22 splits the data stored in the memory 16 into 64 regions of 8×8, and an average value of each item of the data is calculated in each region. An 8×8 DCT (discrete cosine transformation) unit 24 applies DCT transformation to 64 sets of average values, and makes a color feature amount data storage unit 28 store the prescribed number of DCT coefficients from the highest order as the color descriptor. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
