<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical disk drive wherein writing quality is improved by absorbing variance in driving characteristics, and no reduction occurs in the data recording volume of a disk. <P>SOLUTION: At shipping from a plant, reference optimal recording powers P1, P2, P3, ... measured for all the zones of a test optical disk are stored corresponding to zones Z1, Z2, Z3, .... When using by a user, the optimal recording powers Q2, Q3, Q4, ... of the zones at the second time and after are calculated by a predetermined calculation equation based on the optimal recording power Q1 of a first zone measured by test writing on an optical disk and the prestored reference optimal recording powers P1, P2, P3, ..., and data is recorded in each zone in accordance with the calculated optimal recording power. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
