PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To generate color conversion definition by which color conversion which meets human sense of color is performed with high precision, even when the enlargement of the area of the color to be expressed on an image recording medium such as a reversal film is obtained only in the partial area of the color reproduction area in an input device, etc., concerning a color conversion definition generating method for generating color conversion definition to convert input image data obtained by reading an image recorded on the image recording medium through the use of an input device into output image data which meets an output device to output the image based on image data. SOLUTION: The first color reproduction area expressing the area of the color to be expressed on the image recording medium is made to correspond to a cubic color reproduction area in color space relying on a color printer for recording the image on the image recording medium.
