PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a shading correction method and apparatus for an image processing apparatus capable of highly accurately correcting image information with a very small number of correction data. SOLUTION: A linear correction section 82 corrects image information obtained by reading a storage fluorescent sheet IP in the main scanning direction by linear correction data, and a two-dimensional correction section 84 corrects the corrected image information by smoothed two-dimensional correction data in the main scanning direction and subscanning direction to obtain highly accurate image information without shading.
