<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a light emitting element effectively usable for a surface light source of a full-color display, a back light, an illumination light source or the like, or a light source array of a printer or the like, excellent in durability and having high luminous efficiency and emission luminance. <P>SOLUTION: This light emitting element is composed by sealing, with a sealing cover, a luminescent layered product composed by stacking a transparent electrode, an organic compound layer containing a luminescent layer, and a back electrode on a support substrate. The light emitting element is characterized by that the sealing cover is a flexible sheet having a moisture permeability of 0.01 g/m<SP>2</SP>*day or less and an oxygen permeability of 0.01/m<SP>2</SP>*day*atm or less, and the support substrate and the sealing cover are sealed in the peripheral part of the luminescent layered product with a sealing adhesive. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
