<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an imaging apparatus and a conversion method of image data by executing software processing adopting a conventional arithmetic processing technology so as to speed up rotation processing of an image by 90-degrees or 270-degrees. <P>SOLUTION: Image data outputted from an imaging device 8 are divided into image blocks each comprising N pixels × N pixels, which are stored in a frame memory 3. The read sequence of the image blocks each comprising N pixels × N pixels is controlled to apply rearrangement processing to the blocks so that the image blocks arranged longitudinally long are arranged laterally long. Then pixel data in each image block are sequentially read, inverted horizontally and rewritten in the frame memory 3 in the unit of the image blocks. The imaging apparatus includes an encoding processing means 6c that applies DCT processing to the data in the memory 3 in the unit of the image blocks and records the result, and applies encoding processing to the data with zigzag scanning in a reverse direction to that of a conventional zigzag scanning of pixel data in each image block. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
