PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oscillator comprising a function for easily carrying out the temperature compensation for an oscillation frequency and carrying out the temperature compensation for an output amplitude of the oscillator. SOLUTION: In the oscillator, for oscillating at a target frequency at a predetermined temperature, having a resonator and a negative resistance circuit for supplying energy to the resonator, a temperature compensating circuit is provided on the negative resistance circuit side. The temperature compensating circuit includes a thermistor having a temperature characteristic for maintaining the oscillation at the target frequency by compensating for the oscillation frequency drift caused by a phase change due to a temperature change of the reflection coefficient of the resonator as seen from a connection point between the resonator and the negative resistance circuit.
