PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a horizontal synchronizing signal processing circuit for reducing the jitter of a horizontal output even when much noise is superposed on a horizontal synchronizing signal, and also to provide a horizontal synchronizing signal processing method. SOLUTION: The circuit includes: a video signal input terminal 1; a horizontal synchronizing separation circuit 2 for separating the horizontal synchronizing signal from a complex video signal; an automatic frequency control detection circuit 3 for generating an automatic frequency control detection end signal; a voltage control oscillation circuit 6 for oscillating a high frequency signal to be the reference of a signal processing timing; a timing generating circuit 4 for dividing the frequency of the high frequency signal from the oscillation circuit 6, and generating the automatic frequency control detected signal; an automatic frequency control detection terminal 5 for generating an automatic frequency control detection end integration signal; a filter 5a; and a gate switch 10 arranged at a part in a connection route between the horizontal synchronizing separation circuit 2 and the automatic frequency control detection circuit 3.
