<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an information processing system capable of efficiently acquiring desired information from the outside by communicating with the outside. <P>SOLUTION: When a client 200 (x) communicates with a server 100 to which a device (digital camera) 105 having an optional function and thereby acquires an image obtained by the digital camera 105, the client 200 (x) reads only thumbnail images (second information) of real images (first information) stored in the digital camera 105, and displays a window for image selection by using the thumbnail images.
