The invention relates to the nucleic acid and polypeptide sequences of a novel human HCEK-related gene variant (HCEKV). The invention also relates to the process for producing the polypeptide of the variant. The invention further relates to the use of the nucleic acid and polypeptide of the gene variant in diagnosing diseases, in particular, lung cancers.
