<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact optical module that enables the multiplexing and branching of light in an adjacent wavelength band. <P>SOLUTION: An optical module 20 comprises an optical filter 22 that has specific light transmission characteristics (1), first and second optical ports P<SB>1</SB>, P<SB>2</SB>that are arranged at the side of one main surface 22a of the optical filter 22 (2), and a third optical port P<SB>3</SB>that is arranged at the side of the other main surface 22b that differs from one surface 22a of the optical filter 22 (3). Then, at least one of the optical ports P<SB>2</SB>and P<SB>3</SB>functioning as an input port in the first to third ports P<SB>1</SB>, P<SB>2</SB>and P<SB>3</SB>enables single polarization light to enter the optical filter 22. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
