PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a high image quality by suppressing the occurrence of the deformation of a toner image before/after fixing. SOLUTION: In an image forming method, the toner image is preliminarily heated before thermal fixing and toner with which the rate of volume change Vt of the toner image before/after the fixing is set as≤30% and the rate of area changes St is set as≤20% is used as the toner. Vt=[(toner volume before passing the heating part)-(toner volume after passing the heating part)]/the toner volume before passing the heating part×100.
