PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To demonstrate the function of a crane and the function of a heave damper device by one kind of hydraulic cylinder to reduce the weight and the cost of the crane type heave damper device. SOLUTION: This crane type heave damper device comprises a telescopic boom mechanism 20 supported by a turn table 12 on a deck of a hull 1 in an elevating manner via a main boom 21, sheaves 5, 6 and 9 to guide a wire 4 from a winding winch, an undersea device 2 which is suspended from a sub boom 22 expandable from the main boom 21 via the wire 4 from the sheaves 5, 6 and 9, a hydraulic cylinder 31 to vertically move the main boom 21 in an elevating direction and to move the sub boom 22 in an expanding direction, a pressure line 62 to supply the hydraulic pressure to the hydraulic cylinder 31, a return line 63 to release the hydraulic pressure of the hydraulic cylinder 31, a control valve 64 to selectively open/close the pressure line 62 and the return line 63, an accumulator 32 connected to the hydraulic cylinder 31 via a control valve 67 when both lines are open, and means (a long hole 21a, a guide 22a, etc.), to turnably connect one end of the hydraulic cylinder 31 to the sub boom 22.
