<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To always display stable sealing function by forming optimum oil film between a piston rod and a main lip regardless of sliding distance of the piston rod. <P>SOLUTION: In a gas spring, the piston rod 3 is movably inserted via a piston 2 into a cylinder 1. The piston rod 3 is always urged in elongated direction by gas pressure. A seal 9 is provided with near end of the cylinder 1, with the seal 9 including the main lip 15 inside it. The main lip 15 is brought into slide contact with outer periphery of the piston 3, and is formed of a material intermixing a fibrous substance F having oil absorbency and oiliness into a rubber material. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
