<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid crystal optical element in which the reflection of incident light on a substrate surface is reduced and light transmissivity at the time of transparency is improved and to improve the performance, image quality and reliability of a light control device and an image pickup device using the liquid crystal optical element by increasing the optical density ratio of the liquid crystal optical element. <P>SOLUTION: In a liquid crystal cell 12 in which a guest-host type liquid crystal 34 for which a negative type liquid crystal is a host material is enclosed between opposed substrates 31a and 31b, antireflection films (I) 41a and 41b and the antireflection films (II) 42a and 42b composed of a dielectric film are respectively formed on the opposed substrates 31a and 31b, transparent conductive films 32a and 32b and liquid crystal alignment layers 33a and 33b are formed further and a GH liquid crystal 34 is enclosed. Thus, the reflection of visible light at the time of actually manufacturing the liquid crystal optical element is effectively reduced. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
