<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problems found in concentration extinction, segregation, wavelength of emitted light, or the like of a light emitting material for a scintillator, in which 5d-4f transition in Ce is used as typified by Ce:GSO, Ce:LSO or Ce:YAP. <P>SOLUTION: The light emitting material for the scintillator is a Yb mixed crystal oxide single crystal which is expressed by the compositional formula: R<SB>3</SB>Al<SB>5</SB>O<SB>12</SB>, R<SB>3</SB>Ga<SB>5</SB>O<SB>12</SB>, Li<SB>6</SB>R(BO<SB>3</SB>)<SB>3</SB>, La<SB>3</SB>R<SB>2</SB>Ga<SB>3</SB>O<SB>12</SB>or Gd<SB>3</SB>R<SB>2</SB>Ga<SB>3</SB>O<SB>12</SB>(wherein, R is a mixture of Yb and any of Y, Gd and Lu) and which contains Yb as an element for forming an optically active state called as CTS together with adjacent anion (oxygen ion). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO</p> |
