PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a two-dimensional photonic crystal optical resonator having high light taking-out efficiency and to provide an optical reflector. SOLUTION: A two-dimensional photonic crystal is made by periodically arranging a region (hole) 12 of a refractive index different from a slab-like body 11 on the body 11. A waveguide 13 is formed by linearly providing no hole 12 therein. Two acceptor type point defects 14 is formed by enlarging the two holes 12 separated at only a distance L in the longitudinal direction of the waveguide. In this constitution, light reflection and transmission in the point defect 14 is suppressed by selecting the proper distance L, and light resonated with the point defect 14 can be efficiently taken out. A reflectance of light may be increased in the point defect in the case that the distance L is selected, and the optical resonator resonating light between the two point defects 14 and the optical reflector reflecting light with the two point defects 14 can be used.
