PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image display device which can display in multi-colors without increasing the capacity of a memory incorporated in a driver IC on the display unit side. SOLUTION: An image generation unit performs seudo-halftone processing for source image data to generate processed image data, supplies a specified number of high-order bits to the display unit side, and stores low-order bits in a 1st memory (24). In a 2nd display mode, the low-order bits stored in the 1st memory are supplied to the display unit side. On the display unit side, on the other hand, the high-order bits of the processed image data supplied from the image generation unit are stored in a 2nd memory (31). In a 1st display mode, only the high-order bits stored in the 2nd memory are displayed. In the 2nd display mode, the high-order bits stored in the 2nd memory and the low- order bits supplied from an image generation unit are synthesized and displayed. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
