PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image recording apparatus in which electric power consumption in a standby mode is further reduced by interrupting electric power supply to units other than units which have an external interface in the standby mode, or interrupting the electric power supply to units which do not require a warm-up process. SOLUTION: When a main controller 500 enters a state of waiting for transmission of image data from a RIP (raster image processor) 200, the main controller 500 starts clocking with a timer. When an operation panel 8 is not operated for predetermined time, or when there is no transmission of image data from the RIP 200, the main controller 500 switches the mode of the apparatus from a normal mode to a standby mode. At that time, a control signal is transmitted so as to interrupt the electric power supply to SSRs 510 and 511. The SSRs 510 and 511 which have received the signal interrupts the electric power supply to a printer controller 502, an image processor 503, an exposure controller 504 and a processor controller 505.
