A process for removing a chlorinated methane impurity from a stream comprising of halogenated compound other than the chlorinated methane impurity, the process comprising contacting the stream with a polymer adsorbent to produce a purified product stream, the polymer adsorbent having a pore size distribution characterized by a higher cumulative porosity as a function of the log of pore diameter than that of activated carbon.
