<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compact enzyme electrode capable of highly sensitively, simply, and speedily measuring concentration of ammonia in a sample. <P>SOLUTION: The enzyme electrode includes (a) an insulating substrate, an electrode system having a working electrode, a counter electrode, and, in some cases, a reference electrode formed on the insulating substrate; and (b) a reactive layer formed on the electrode system and containing diaphorase (DI), dehydrogenase, and nicotinamide-adenine dinucleotide synthetase (NADS). It is characterized that the NADS does not have either at least glutamine or asparagine as substrates but has ammonia as a substrate. At least part of the reactive layer is located on the working electrode. The DI, the dehydrogenase, and the NADS contained in the part in the reactive layer, are fixed to the surface of the working electrode so that compounds generated in the reactive layer reach the surface of the working electrode. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO |
