PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve a problem in a communication between a ventilation device having either a unidirectional mode transmitting means or a half-duplex mode transmitting means and a ventilation adjusting device for controlling the ventilation device, that installation work is increased as an address is required to be set to each respective terminal for recognition, and the flexibility in future design of the device is restricted by requiring all terminals of low to high cost to have a communication system having the same specification so as to improve compatibility and facilitate system maintenance. SOLUTION: The ventilation adjusting device for communicating with the ventilation device waits unidirectional mode transmittance from the ventilation device for a predetermined time period after establishing a connection with the ventilation device. If the unidirectional mode transmittance is not detected for the predetermined time, the ventilation adjusting device transmits the ventilation device in the half-duplex mode. COPYRIGHT: (C)2004,JPO
