PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burner wherein flame which has died at one flame port when the burner is turned to have a small flame is recovered certainly by means of flame transfer from any of the other flame ports. SOLUTION: This burner is formed by layering two pieces of metallic plates 10, 20 having an end part formed into a rough waveform in a vertical direction with wave phases shifted. The burner has the plurality of the flame ports 12, 22 alternately arranged in the vertical direction along the end part of the metallic plates 10, 20, and a plurality of gas passages 14, 24 for supplying gas to the respective flame ports 12, 22. The burner also has a first deformed part 16 in which one metallic plate 10 faces the other metallic plate 20 to be deformed in either flame port part of the upper and lower flame ports 12, 22. A gap in a vertical direction between an upper flame port center 12x and a lower flame port center 22x which are adjacent to each other in the first deformed part 16 is made shorter than a gap in a vertical direction between the center of the upper gas passage 14 and that of the lower gas passage 24 which face and be adjacent to each other.
