PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a polyallylamine derivative having new functional characteristics such as solubility in organic solvents, ultraviolet rays absorbing functions and metal chelating properties by introducing a phenol compound into the polyallylamine derivative, and the polyallylamine derivative. SOLUTION: The method for producing the polyallylamine derivative comprises reacting a water-soluble polymer assuming basicity and having amino groups or imino groups in the main chain or side chain with the phenol derivative.
